Aircraft Background Edit
After the UK pullout, the USMC and McDonnell Douglas continued to develop the second generation Harrier. Starved of much BAe and Rolls Royce ingenuity, the changes were modest. A larger wing with LERX gave better load/range and more maneuverability; modern composite materials lightened the airframe; the Sea Harrier style raised cockpit improved visibility; and and upgraded engine and modern glass cockpit and avionics made the Harrier into a fourth generation fighter.
